Boston here we come!!!

This weekend I ran the SLC marathon in hopes of qualifying for the Boston marathon. I ran the race with two of my best buddies Maika and Carrie. The race was incredibly hard to say the least. We ran directly into a stong headwind for the first 13 miles. Normally at 13 miles, we feel fine. This time, I felt like I was at mile 23. I knew it was going to be a long one.

Maika and I have been good friends ever since college track days. We were roomies and ran together on the track team. We have stayed great friends and get together whenever possible. She is the kind of friend that remembers my anniversary when I forget it...

This is Carrie aka Care Bear. She is one toughy. We did our training runs together and had some good times. On our 20 miler we ran down the canyon at 5:30 a.m. only to be greeted by a moose standing right next to Carrie. I saw some eyes glowing and turned my headlamp to a giant bull moose about 2 feet away...

We all got separated from each other by mile 15 and it was mental anguish from then on...I wanted to walk so bad, but I knew I didn't want to miss qualifying for the BM.

I'm sooooo happy for you Hol! You are the most dedicated and tough person I know. Seriously. I really think marathons are like childbirth... it's so easy to forget how awful it really is so we keep doing it! Go Boston '09!

WOW!! Congrats! That is so exciting! i ran a few miles with my sister a few years ago and tried to do it again this year but I gave blood the day before and I could only do 3 miles. I can't even imagine doing all 26. Congrats on the BM!!

Are you kidding me? What a woman. My limit is 3 miles--wimpy! I can't even imagine running for 3 1/2 hours. I can't go that long without a coke! You are awesome, keep it up.

Wow, you are amazing. Didn't you used to hate long distances? I was going to sign up for the bike tour at the marathon. I can bike 26 miles but run... no way. Good job.

Awesome! Congradulations! I am so happy for you. How is Maika doing, will you tell her hi from me? That is such an accomplishment. I ran the Boston Marathon back in 2003...its a tough one, but so fun--seriously if a marathon could be fun this is it. There are tons of people cheering the ENTIRE way and music playing every five or so miles. You'll love it. And Boston is awesome, (we were there for Zac's dental school so Im partial)
Go Red Sox!
Congratulations Girl!
