Boston was born at 3:38 am on May 22nd. He was 6 lbs 4 oz and 20.5 inches long. This pregnancy progressed like the others. I was dilated to a 4 and 80% by 34 weeks. I actually exercised this round. I wogged until about 28 weeks and walked until 32 weeks. I swam until 34 weeks. It was so much better than bedrest! I gained 25 lbs this time instead of 55-60 :).
I had tons of contractions so I never knew what to expect. My goal was to make it until the girls dance review which was on May 15th. Check. I made it to Kylie's show-off days and Pre-school graduation which was 2 days after Boston was born. He got babysat in the NICU.
The birth story: Friday night the 21st, I got sick of sitting home and decided to get a sitter and go to dinner with Ty. We went to Chili's. On the way home I thought I was either feeling the aftermath of Chilis or my contractions were hurting more. We got kids to bed and started a movie. I thought my water broke...(it didn't) so we decided to head in and check it out. We got to the hospital at about 11:00 pm. I was a 5. But, I was a 4 in the office so who knows! An hour later I was a 6. The nurses said I couldn't go home. My contractions never got really close but they hurt! The doc broke my water at about 1 am. By 2 am I was only a 7 until they emptied my ever so full bladder. I progressed quickly after that. My doc was out of town so I was delivered by Dr. Blackett. He was about a 6 push wonder.

When he came out, he was really screaming! After he calmed down, he was really grunting to breath.

They had me do skin-to-skin with him because they said that often helps them recover without needing oxygen.

No such luck. Poor little guy got put on a ventilator and IV. They gave him surfactin for his lungs.

He spent the night like this. I hate to see them this way. Its so sad.

I got to hold him for the first time that next morning. He was so sweet. Those little guys are so hard to handle with all the cords and IV's.

NICU nurses are the best. I was so happy to have them with all their knowledge. I love them!

He was having a hard time keeping his oxygen levels up so they put him on his tummy and it really helped. He ended up spending 5 days in the NICU. I spent the time in the hospital on Hotel stay so I could still feed him through the night (he didn't like bottles). The new NICU is so nice. I loved having our own room there and not having to put a little screen around me like we had to with the rest. The NICU experience was as good as it could be. :) I was so happy to go home.
