So here goes my documentary on LOTOJA (Logan to Jackson-206 miles-3 states). My little bro Adam and I decided to attempt LOTOJA as a 2 man relay which meant we would each ride 100 miles. We did the Ulcer back in August which was 111, but that was on flat ground and it was just a ride. I have to admit, I was so freaked out to race 100 miles with huge mountain passes in the mix. Adam and I were both new to cycling. His first time on a road bike was our first training ride for the race. We rode up Smithfield canyon which is about 5 miles up and I thought he was going to Die. Man he came a long way. There is nobody I would have rather done this race with. We had the best time training together...What a great kid.
The morning started way too early. Neither of us could sleep the night before. I have never been so nervous for a race. I guess I just didn't know what to expect.

Adam rode the first leg from Logan to Preston.
We had a fairly large start pack with about 50 cyclists or so. Ad got right up in the front and stayed there.
The funny thing about this picture is 1) How nervous I was and look 2)I still have all of my warm-up clothes on 3)The riders you see in the background is Adam. I had no idea he would make it to Preston as fast as he did so I totally wasn't ready. He came a good 20 minutes faster than I thought. He had gotten into a large group and they flew! I ripped my clothes off and rode away. My leg was from Preston to Montpelier. This leg is a huge climb. It was 47 miles with 60% pedaling uphill. I actually prefer this because I like to climb. I made it to the top fast and feeling good. I hooked up with a ground of men on the way to Montpelier and we booked it! When I hit Montpelier, I was Done pedaling. I knew I had lots of time to recover...
