I wish I would have discovered sooner that Brooke can do housework... She got the cleaning itch the other day! Besides the usual chores, Brooke stepped up and became a real helper. Including mopping, cleaning her bathroom, and folding all the clothes in her drawers. She did a great job and saved me a ton of time! Brooke is a particular little gal so I knew it would be done right!
Sunday after a large turkey dinner, Brooke decided she wanted to clean up. Everything...My initial reaction was no because I didn't want to redo it. She insisted. I left the room and let her do her thing. She cleaned the entire kitchen as good as I would have (better than Ty-he doesn't touch washrags).
I can't help but get excited that maybe now I can get a little help around here!
I didn't realize it would cost me.

I am sure that Brooke would have done this anyway, but we've been learning how everyone has a "part" in their family and I've been trying to teach (guilt) the kids to help around the house and do their part. I really laid it on thick a couple of weeks ago. As far as having to pay her...I always tell my kids that dinner cost me x amount and their task was worth a little less than that so they usually end up owing me money. It's great. JK!! She sounds like she will turn out like my little Madison who is clearly a better mom than I am. :)
That is hilarious. My kids just continue to tell me that I'm the meanest mom in the world because I make them do chores. I'll take that title if I can get a little help around here. I laughed so hard when you said that Ty doesn't touch dishrags--I absolutely refuse to use them more than one day--they stink and it's so gross. And I won't use one at somebody else's house either--if I'm helping I have to get a new dishrag...OCD much?
Isn't it great to have the older one really start to pitch in! Brooke is such a cute girl.
That's the best. You better get all the help you can while she likes to do it!
