Now that was steep!

So I got talked into attempting the Porcupine Hill Climb...I have only climbed one mountain pass where the elevation gain was 1500 ft. The Porcupine climb was 3800 vertical ft in 14.7 miles. Like an idiot, we drove the race course the night before and I was literally sick. I had no idea what to expect and it did not look good. I felt like I do when I have that reoccuring dream where I am running an 800 in a college meet and haven't trained.

I think my heart rate was faster in the parking lot where the race started than it was during the race! I started out and a man knocked into me and I almost tipped over so I had to stop. I am sure people liked that. I finally get clipped in on the hill (this is hard for me) and I was off. I could see people's bikes reflecting in the sun way up the hill, not the best start but it got better. I couldn't believe how good I felt. It was a lot of fun. I ended up 2nd in my class and won a beer jug and gift card. Woo-hoo!

I was amazed at how many men were sucking off my tire! Go figure.

What is wrong with this picture???

You NEVER, EVER cease to amaze me!! I am jealous of how active you are. Not jealous enough to go do it myself, but jealous still. :)

Very cool Holly. I want to do more bike races. Great job. I just rode somewhat up the canyon from Bear Lake headed to Logan, only 3 miles and my legs were getting pooped. Way to go.
